But that kind of gf-stanning fanservice is not the kind of thing you organically hear from your average english-speaking celeb, let alone average english speakers around you. there's a gap in both language and (sub)culture happening that creates dissonance in a person's expectations. kpop-style fanservice in english can sound weird bc of how forwardly indulgent and sincere it sounds compared to modern english flirting which is very idk ironic or indirect or rather unromantic. it has less to do with language fluency than cultural adaptation/familiarity. i'm sure if matthew or ricky were to flirt like an american/canadian in korean, it would sound kind of awkward or novel to koreans too.
